Cherry Ripe supposedly broadcasts from a site somewhere in the Australian outback.
WTF with the original American Emergency Broadcasting System ginjle?
I’m a Swede, and why would they speak in German?
music for the zombie apocalypse
It’s creepy enough without the fucking doll staring at us, god.
Hmm I am putting money on this being a saftey transmission, as wontonmaster666 said possibly a dead man’s switch.
Maybe something Nuclear, power or War?
According to wikipedia no voice is transmitted however conversations have been heard over either a live mic or an accidental left open moment.
Speculation of course, we are not meant to know. But we will when UVB - 76 does what is meant to and either shut down or broadcast a message.
Thanks for pointing that out, I read somewhere that Cherry Ripe had something to do with Asia?
It’s a bit sad we won’t hear that “Lincolnshire poacher” tune again, It was a real Cold War Icon.
Actually, I heard that Lincolnshire Poacher stopped broadcasting in late June 2008 or so.
It had a sister station broadcasting from the same base called Cherry Ripe which is still running, though.
A German defence station, I reckon speculating this is along the lines of Lincolnshire Poacher (E3)
Freaky Doll in this vid, the Number station doesn’t disturb me, but it’s eyes do lol
This is a Number station: Comms to in field agents check out Lincolnshire poacher for example still broadcasting code.
Used a lot during cold war years, and still today! Check out MI5 website there is still “spy” activity, when it stops we start worrying! Same for these stations I think!
UVB-76 is a dead man’s switch.
So I assume this is not active at the moment?
we listened to this in class today. O_O
This makes my balls retract

I’d say “supposedly” where you used “apparently”, because all this is speculation.
Apparently this went off the air when there were massive floods in Germany, so this has had people trying to narrow down just where the signal is coming from.
Could be the facility broadcasting it got flooded or the operators were taken away to help with the relief effort.
Apparently UVB-76 is used as some kind of status indicator for a nuclear facility. If the buzzer stops, something has gone horribly wrong.
Freaky stuff.
I’ve listened to a bunch of numbers stations today, after first having read about this sort of thing, and I think the only one that sounded eerily menacing to me was UVB-76. Look it up; you may or may not share my sentiment.
I listen to this a lot.
I have to say, the Swedes have made some rather creepy choices for their Numbers Station.
I wonder what this one meant..
its not scary, but it is nothing like static.
just try and explain it.
go on.
The signal itself isn’t scary. The scary part is the things people imagine that these could be used for.
I still guess its for spies.
This isn’t creepy or scary. People are reading too much into this. It is about as scary as the static you get from a weak signal while listening to the radio.
I’m scared.
No, it was not added afterwards, It marks the beginning of the transmission. And It’s actually the melody from the song “Swedish Rhapsody” hence the name. They usually named these stations after the music that was played, if there was any.
Only part added is the “This is only a test”. 1:00 –> 5:10 all real.
